On January 10, 2013, at 6:14 p.m., The Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a one-vehicle crash with unknown injury at Rat Road, east of Schansberg Road in the Township of Preston, Trempealeau County.
A vehicle driven by 47-year-old John Spence of Taylor, Wis., was traveling eastbound on Rat Road when Spence lost control and rolled into the ditch. A 10-year-old female passenger was transported by Tri County Ambulance to Tri County Memorial Hospital in Whitehall, Wis., with non life-threatening injuries. Icy road conditions were a factor in the crash.
On January 11, 2013, at 12:28 a.m., the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a one-vehicle crash with injury.
The vehicle, driven by Gerald Halama, 68, of Independence, Wis., was traveling southbound on State Road 93, when the driver lost control and left the roadway, striking a tree near a private residence. The driver was transported by Tri County Ambulance to Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, Wis., with severe injuries.
Icy road conditions were a factor in the crash. The accident is still under investigation.
