Hi. My name is John.
I was born and raised in Winona, Minn. I graduated from Winona High School in 1968, and got my BS in Aerospace Engineering from Texas A & M in 1972. After graduation, I spent the next four years in the Peace Corps in Nepal in a small village in the Himalayan Mountains as a school teacher (two years), and another two years in a small village in northern Thailand building bridges and spillways.
Over the next 30 some odd years, I lived wherever my career took me including:
5 years in Fort Worth, Texas, at General Dynamics;
2 years in Olney, Texas, for Dayco Corporation;
3 years in Green River, Wyoming, for Texasgulf Co.;
12 years in Ogden, Utah, for Westinghouse;
6 years in Mobile, Alabama, for Mitsubishi Metals (Polysilicon);
6 years as an Independent Technical Consultant... (I design chemical process plants for extractive metallurgy i.e. Silicon, Zirconium, Titanium).
I went to night school in 1989 and got my MBA degree with emphasis on international business. In the last few years I spent a fair amount of time in Korea and China, working on projects for Polysilicon production.Polysilicon is the feed product for the semiconductor industry or silicon wafer chips.
I have two wonderful children whom I raised as a single parent. My son is an avionics technician in the Air Force and lives in Utah, and my daughter works at Whole Foods in Denver.
I speak a few languages (Thai, Nepalese, and a little Japanese and a few words in Korean and Chinese) and although I have enjoyed traveling, I am looking forward to staying in one place for a while.
I am mostly retired now, but I still do a little consulting work, and I also have an Internet guitar business. I have always enjoyed playing music, and writing and singing original tunes.
My idea of a nice time is a quiet spot by the river on a beautiful evening, watching the sunset with a good friend.
John is survived by his children, Dorothy (Mike) Haas of Aurora, Colo., and Robert of West Haven, Utah, his second wife, Shar; mother, Rebecca of Winona, Minn., and many more family and friends. John was preceded in death by his father, William H. Reinarts.
A Celebration of John’s Life will be Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at 12:00 p.m. with a visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home.
