“Chasing Ice” is coming to Winona! It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song, “Before My Time,” which was written by J. Ralph Feat and performed by Scarlett Johansson and Joshua Bell. Listen to the song on their website. www.chasingice.com.
This film is the result of one man’s idea—National Geographic photographer James Balog. “Chasing Ice” follows his determination set up time-lapse camera equipment in some of the most inhospitable and strikingly beautiful places on earth. Balog decided to make it his life’s work to capture the melting of the earth’s ice for all to see with their own eyes—“evidence that grabs them in the gut.” When I saw the film last Spring I found it compelling both visually and environmentally. He got me!
The Frozen River Film Festival is pleased and excited to bring this film to the Winona community! A last minute addition to the program, the Festival is able to show the film twice:
