Leona H. Stoltman, 91, of Winona, Minn., was called to rest on Monday, January 21, 2013, at St Anne Extended Healthcare.
Leona was born on March 20, 1921, in Powers Lake, North Dakota. She married her loving and devoted husband, James Stoltman, on April 15, 1944, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Winona, Minn.
In March of 1965, James and Leona opened Stoltman’s Grocery Store, which they ran together for over 20 years. Leona enjoyed working in the store, cooking, playing cards in her many card groups with friends and family, as well as spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Leona is survived by her three sons, Robert (Sue) Stoltman, Rushford, Minn., Dave (Judy) Stoltman, Winona, and Jack (Lori) Stoltman, Winona; eight grandchildren, Jeff (Gail) Stoltman, Winona, Trisha (Dave) Block, Inver Grove Heights, Minn., Jennifer Stingl, La Crosse, Wis., Angie (Mark) Bennick of Singapore, Jared (Kati) Stoltman, Winona, Andrea Stoltman, Winona, Justin Stoltman, Winona, and Samantha Stoltman, Winona; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Leona is preceded in death by her parents, George and Hulda (Virgin) Weinmann; her husband, Jim; four brothers, Helmer, Carl, Willie and Leonard; two sisters, Margret and Millie; and grandson, Jason.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2013, at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka.
Leona will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home on Thursday, January 24, 2013, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka on Friday, January 25, 2013, from 11:30 a.m. until 12:15 p.m.
