Back on June 28, you voted with the Republicans and NRA to censure Attorney General Eric Holder over the “Fast and Furious” farce. It was basically a pro-gun vote. We realize very many of your constituents are hunters and, therefore, gun owners—but censuring Holder did nothing to protect their gun ownership, though it may have earned you points or dollars from the NRA.
The current fight heating up in Congress is totally different. Your constituents’ shotguns and deer rifles are in no danger of being confiscated, and they’d have a hard time claiming they need assault weapons and high capacity magazines. The president’s proposals for gun regulations are sane and reasonable. They are worthy of your support. Your vote in support of those proposals will be the trigger for our votes for you in November 2014.
