At 2:03 p.m. deputies ticketed Tyler Sherry, 21, of Houston, with inattentive driving and use of a cell phone while driving after he rolled his vehicle into a ditch. According to the report, Sherry was southbound on County Road 17 in Wiscoy Valley when a passenger in the vehicle yelled at Sherry to stop, as he was approaching an intersection. Sherry slammed on the brakes, causing the front right tire of the vehicle to enter the ditch. The vehicle rolled several times and landed upside-down. When deputies arrived, Sherry said he was playing with his phone’s MP3 player application and didn’t notice he was approaching the intersection. No injuries were reported.

At 5:07 p.m. police ticketed a 17-year-old Stockton male for possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after an officer on patrol near Garvin Heights noticed a car parked at the lookout and smelled burnt marijuana. The Stockton male admitted the marijuana and drug paraphernalia were his and was subsequently ticketed.

At 10:30 p.m. police arrested Jason Wayne Smith, 29, of Winona, for second-degree assault causing fear, making terroristic threats, and violation of a harassment restraining order after he was involved in an altercation at an apartment complex in the 1100 block of Sugar Loaf Road. According to the report, Smith allegedly came to the door earlier in the evening and began yelling at an 18-year-old male, a 19-year-old male, and a 20-year-old female. The 19-year old male had a restraining order against Smith. When he went to call police, Smith allegedly pointed a knife at him and threatened to stab him.

At 9:50 a.m. a Winona resident reported missing a Samsung 15-inch laptop from his residence on the 250 block of East Third Street. The man said he forgot his laptop on the front porch when he went inside earlier in the morning. When he remembered several minutes later, he discovered the laptop was gone. Estimated cost of the stolen property is $500.
At 1:08 a.m. police arrested Jeremy John Brandes, 36, of Winona, near Broadway and Liberty streets for fourth-degree driving while intoxicated. According to the report, an officer observed that the vehicle failed to yield at the intersection and appeared to be speeding. The officer pulled the vehicle over and made contact with the driver, identified as Brandes. The officer administered a preliminary breath test and Brandes had a blood alcohol content of 0.15 percent.
At 1:10 a.m. police arrested and referred Jordan Phillip Peterson, 18, of Winona, for first-degree burglary, obstructing the legal process, and underage consumption of alcohol after he allegedly stole a Playstation console and fled police. According to the report, officers responded to a report of an altercation in the 350 block of Johnson Street, and found three men holding another male on the ground. When officers broke up the conflict, the person being held down, identified as Peterson, fled the scene. Officers yelled at him to stop and tackled Peterson. The three men who had been holding him down were residents of a nearby apartment and told police they found Peterson in their house with a black bag full of their belongings and their Playstation console under his shirt. Officers did find stolen items on Peterson and a WSU identification card belonging to him in the residence.

At 10:16 a.m. officers arrested and referred Shelli Ann Campbell-Wilson, 54, of Winona, for second-degree assault causing fear and making terroristic threats after she allegedly threatened a 50-year-old Winona man with a knife at a residence in the 800 block of Gilmore Avenue. According to the report, officers found a portion of the carpet in the residence burnt and the victim alleged that Campbell-Wilson had set the carpet on fire with lighter fluid and threatened to kill him. Officers administered a preliminary breath test and Campbell-Wilson had a blood alcohol content of .16 percent. A police official noted that arson charges may be pending.
