As part of this year's Minnesota Fringe Festival, Patrick Dewane, author of “The Accidental Hero,” will perform his one-man, spoken word play depicting the life of his grandfather, Lieutenant Colonel Matt Konop, based on the detailed writings he left after his death.
Born and raised in a traditional Czech-American family in rural Wisconsin, Konop hated everything about his heritage. While serving in the Army during World War II, Konop is asked to conduct a unique mission that forces him not only to face his cultural dilemma, but also defend his homeland.
A “Forrest Gump meets John Wayne” epic drama and comedy all rolled into one, “The Accidental Hero” tells the story of a simple farm boy who grew up to survive extraordinary circumstances and accidentally becomes a hero to many.
