January 30 7 p.m. at the Winona County History Center
Do you have accidental heroes in your family tree? Do you wonder where they were and what happened to them during their time in uniform? This presentation will teach you how to find your ancestors’ military records so that you can tell their stories and honor the contributions they made in service to America. Sandy Mochal Thalmann owns and operates Authentic Origins, a genealogical research company based in Rochester, Minnesota. She is an adoptee who understands first-hand the importance of finding the truth about family history, and has over thirty years experience investigating both biological and adoptive families. She holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Minnesota, is a past director of the Minnesota Genealogical Society, and a regular contributor to Minnesota Genealogist and Minnesota Genealogical Journal. This program is free and open to the public thanks to the support of Jim and Ruth Erickson and the Winona Foundation.
This program is a Page In History event in partnership with Saint Mary’s University’s Page Theatre and is offered in conjunction with the performance, Accidental Hero, a Czech-American World War II true story showing Thursday, January 31, 2013, at 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Find more programs, exhibits and events by visiting the Winona County Historical Society online at www.winonahistory.org
