Our letter stated that the President’s gun proposals put no shotguns or deer rifles in jeopardy of confiscation, and we stand by that claim. The proposals recently made by a group of sensible members of Congress seek to ban the manufacture and sale of certain specified kinds of firearms; they make no mention of ‘confiscating’ anyone’s weapons—unless, of course, they are illegally owned or sold.
