Alice M. Lynch, age 85, of Winona, died on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at St. Anne Extended Healthcare.
Alice was born on August 1, 1927, in Trempealeau, Wis., to Dominic and Frances (Walski) Cierzan. On May 31, 1947, she was united in marriage with Edgar J. Lynch, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Winona; he preceded her in death on August 15, 1996.
For many years, she worked at Lake Center Industries. Alice was a member of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka and its Rosary Society; Sacred Heart Society; Adult, Polish and Funeral Choirs; and assisted with first Friday communion calls. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters, Polish Heritage Society, 500 and Cribbage card clubs, Pocahontas of the Red Mens, delivered Meals-on-Wheels, past-member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and an avid Packer fan.
She was a caretaker for so many people and cared for many of them in their final days of their lives. Alice will be remembered as a great cook and baker, especially for her beans, coconut cream pies and desserts.
Alice is survived by her children, Molly (Gerald) Urness, Owatonna, Minn., Tim (Jean) Lynch, Winona, Minn., Peggy Lynch, Owatonna, Minn., and Denny (Joni) Lynch, Winona, Minn; grandchildren, Katy (Michael) Ebert, Rochester, Minn., Leigh (Ricardo) Magana, Owatonna, Minn, Eric Urness, Apple Valley, Minn., Nicole (Travis) Peterson, Winona, Minn., Ana-Lee Lynch, St. Paul, MN, Daniel (Katy) Lynch, Maple Grove, Minn., and Patrick Kerrigan, Lansing, Mich.; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Raymond (Dyann) Cierzan, Grimes, Iowa, and Alvin Cierzan, Kingman, Ariz.; many nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Susan Kerrigan; two brothers; one sister; and grandchildren, Kelly Kerrigan and Colleen Kerrigan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 5. 2013, at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka. The Reverend Monsignor Thomas J. Hargesheimer will officiate.
Alice will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, February 4, 2013, at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka, and again on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, from noon until 12:45 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Alice’s grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials be made to the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka.
