James E. Rymarkiewicz Sr., 61, of Orwigsburg, Pa., died Thursday, January 31, at Schuylkill Medical Center due to diabetes complications.
He was born on November 13, 1951, in Winona, Minn., to Chester and Marjorie (Barnes) Rymarkiewicz. Jim was a graduate of Winona Senior High, class of 1969. He served in the Navy as a MM3 in the Vietnam War, receiving the National Defense Service Medal/Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal. He was a member of the American Legion and the Electrician Union. He was involved in Cub Scouts and little leagues as his children were growing, he recently became involved with soccer through his granddaughters.
He is survived by two sons, James (Jessica) Rymarkiewicz of New Ringgold, Pa.; Tim (Jacqueline) of Pottsville, Pa.; two daughters, Christina (Paul) Filiash of Orwigsburg, Pa.; and Kelly Rymarkiewicz of Orwigsburg, Pa.,; two brothers, John (Debbie) Rymarkiewicz of Cornell, Wis., and David (Teresa) Rymarkiewicz of Winona; four sisters, Marie (Gerard) Janikowski, Beatrice (Bruce) Little, JoAnn (Larry) Vetsch, and Marjorie (Dave) Fricke, all of Winona; he was a proud Pop Pop to eight granddaughters, Zoey, Jaimee, Haley, Lola, Regan and Lacey Rymarkiewicz and Kylie and Kyra Filiash; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece, Tracy M. Rymarkiewicz.
Family and friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Services will be held at noon on Wednesday at Hamilton Funeral Home, Orwigsburg, Pa. Military honors will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
