Real estate recordings up (02/03/2013)
The number of real estate recordings during January 2013 was the highest in eight years, jumping 21% from January a year ago. Eight-hundred-seventeen transactions were recorded during January 2013 compared to 674 during January 2012. Leading the increases were property sales and home mortgages. County Recorder Bob Bambenek said the lowest home interest rates in history are driving the high number of recordings. It was also noted foreclosures dropped to 7 during January, 2013 compared to 10 a year ago. Bambenek added it was a very positive month for Winona County real estate recordings.
January Recordings by Year: 2005 - 855; 2006 - 723; 2007 - 707; 2008 - 664; 2009 - 714; 2010 - 590; 2011 - 751; 2012 - 674; 2013 - 817
