On Friday, January 22, Winona resident Jason David Barker, 37, was charged with three counts each of felony second-degree criminal sexual contact and fifth-degree criminal sexual contact in Houston County, after he allegedly molested three young girls at the La Crescent Montessori Public Academy. An investigation began on January 16, after other teachers at the school overheard girls talking about Barker’s making them feel uncomfortable. Investigators discovered that Barker allegedly had illegal sexual contact with the girls. Prior to working as a special education director for the La Crescent school, Barker worked for Bluffview Montessori School and Riverway Learning Community, both of Winona. However, no investigations of misconduct are being investigated at those schools at this time.
