Rosemary “Rosie” Kreidermacher, 87, of Rollingstone, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at the Lewiston Villa, after a 10-year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Rosie was born May 23, 1925, in Winona, to Louis and Adella (Speltz) Schmit. Rosie met Jim Kreidermacher in the third grade at Holy Trinity School. They wed at the age of 22 on Oct. 11, 1947, in Rollingstone, and they were married for 65 years.
Before her marriage to Jim, Rosie worked for Morgan’s Jewelers in Winona. She raised three children and took pride in maintaining a loving home and her old-fashioned cooking. After her children were grown, she volunteered at the Rollingstone School, watching over the children during lunch hour. She also worked noon hours at Schell’s Grocery and was an active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Rosie enjoyed golfing, bowling, traveling and playing cards with friends and neighbors. She took care of Jim for the first 55 years, and Jim took care of her for the last 10 years of their marriage. He couldn’t have done it without the wonderful staff--who are now friends--at the Lewiston Villa. Survivors include her husband, Jim; two children, LouAnn (Scott) Wiens of Lewiston and Paul (Mary) Kreidermacher of Rollingstone; a son-in-law, Bob Jones of Hastings; six grandchildren, Brian (Christianne) Jones and Michael Jones, Michelle (Darren) Ginther and Jessica Wiens, Adam and Sam Kreidermacher; three great-grandchildren, Lalayna, Lola and Hattie Jones. Rosie was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Jones; three brothers, Cyril, Francis and Bob; and two sisters, Bernette Doran and Dorothy Gengler.
A funeral Mass will occur at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rollingstone, with the Reverend William Kulas officiating. Burial of Rosie’s cremated body will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org., so that one day others may be saved from this disease.
