Pauline F. Bellman, age 91, of Winona, Minn., passed away peacefully on Monday, February 4, 2013, at Winona Health.
Pauline Frances was born February 27, 1921, in Winona, to John and Stella (Norvvikowski) Zakrzewski. She attended St. Stanislaus Grade School and graduated from Winona Senior High as the valedictorian of her class.
She worked as a secretary at Washington-Kosciusko School. During World War II, she worked for the Department of the Navy in Washington, D.C., as a personal secretary to Admiral King. On June 26, 1943, she married Wilton “Bill” Bellman, who preceded her in death on February 10, 1968. With Bill in the U.S. Army, their early married life was kept busy with transfers. They lived in Louisiana, Missouri, and Germany before settling back in Winona. She then worked as the manager of S & H Green Stamp Store, Winona.
Family and friends will always remember her for her wonderful smile, amazing singing voice, beautiful penmanship, and her big warm heart.
She is survived by her two sons: Bill (Jean) Bellman and Jim (Mary) Bellman of Winona; 10 grandchildren: Mary, Marlene, Jeffrey, Daniel, Barbara, Billy Jo, Lisa, Adam, Jacob, and Larissa; seven great-grandchildren and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Richard Bellman; daughter, Judy Flemming; two brothers: Edward and John “Jack”; and two sisters: Helen Einhorn and Marcella Wieczorek.
Services to remember Pauline will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 9, 2013, at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home, Winona, with Rev. Kathy Schuler officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Winona.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
