Esther L. Tranberg, age 83, of Winona, passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at her home.
Esther was born on July 27, 1929, in Arcadia, Wis., to Peter and Victoria (Sonsalla) Urbick. She married Raymond S. Tranberg on November 22, 1948, in North Creek, Wis; he preceded her in death on December 24, 1983.
She was a member of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka.
Esther worked many years at the laundry of the Winona Hospital. Esther will be remembered for her love of her flower gardens and cats. She will also be remembered for her wonderful cooking, unselfishness, devotion as a loving mother, grandmother and especially proud to be great- grandmother to Briella, Zoey, Tyler and Abbey.
Esther is lovingly survived by her daughter: Jelayne (Kent) Pehler, Winona; granddaughters: Amy (Jon) Konkel, Ewa Beach, Hawaii; Tiffiny Pehler, La Crosse, Wis.; Chelsea Pehler, Des Moines, Iowa; great-grandchildren: Briella and Zoey Konkel; step great-grandchildren: Tyler and Abby Konkel, sister, Grace Besek, Winona, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers and sisters: Lambert Urbick, Violet Obieglo, Edward Urbick, Gernie Schock, Leiann Urbick, and Josephine Bjorge.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, February 11, 2013, at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka. The Reverend Monsignor Thomas J. Hargesheimer will officiate.
Esther will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home on Sunday, February 10, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. There will not be any visitation held on Monday – please meet at the Basilica for Mass.
