Gerald Anton Brown, 83, of Lewiston, died Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at the Lewiston Villa from complications of Lewy Body Dementia. He was born March 1, 1929, in Algona, Iowa, to Carl and Mildred (Malecek) Brown. Gerald and Donna Arndorfer were married October 30, 1950, at St. Benedicts, Iowa. They farmed near Fenton, Iowa, before moving to Utica in 1960 to farm. He was also a well-known Pioneer Seed corn salesman for 35 years. The couple moved to Lewiston in 1999. Gerald was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Lewiston and was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, having served as Faithful Navigator. He also served on the Utica Creamery Board and helped form the Minnesota Corn Growers Association. In 1997, Gerald was inducted into the Winona County Fair Hall of Fame.
Survivors include his wife, Donna, eight children; Julia (Jerry Norman) Brown of Austin, Texas, Janet (Larry) Kronebusch of Winona, Leo (Corrine) Brown of Mackinaw, Ill., Connie Brown of Inver Grove Hts., Linda (Tom) Mueller of St. Charles, Diana (Bob) Flury of Lakeville, Kristi (Mark) Ties of Eden Prairie and Teresa Puetz (Mitch Grossell) of Utica, 23 grandchildren; Veronica, Erik, Michelle, Todd, Melissa, Angela, Joshua, Andrew, Emily, Martha, Laura, Keith, Megan, Samantha, Dana, Adam, Beau, Paige, Bryce, Justin, Nicholas, Maddie Jo and Sam, three great-grandchildren, Cash, Jett and Mitchell, a brother, C.J. (Connie) Brown of Tucson, Ariz., and a sister, Wilma (Craig) Loebig of Spirit Lake, Iowa. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary, a brother, Charles, sister, Dolores, and his parents.
The funeral Mass for Gerald will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Lewiston, with the Reverend Timothy Hall officiating. Burial will follow in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday and 10 to 11 a.m. Monday. Vigil Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church.
