Grace B. Nascak, age 90, of Winona, Minn., passed away on Monday, February 4, 2013, at St. Anne Extended Healthcare.
She was born on May 13, 1922, in Waukegan, Ill., to Vincent and Domsella (Zombauskas) Jakaitis. She was united in marriage with Emil Nascak, on November 22, 1943, at St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church in Waukegan, Ill.; he preceded her in death on July 21, 2010.
Grace was employed for many years at Winona State University, working in the Theater and Music Departments. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart and was also a den mother for the Boy Scouts. Grace enjoyed dancing; traveling with Emil; trips to the casino; and most of all, she enjoyed being a mother and grandmother.
Grace is survived by her children: Diane (Robert) Anderson, Winona, Minn.; Michael (Janice) Nascak, North Port, Fla., James (Tanya) Nascak, Goodview, Minn., and Thomas (Sue) Nascak, Eden Prairie, Minn., grandchildren: Lisa, Lori, Lynn, Michelle, Richard, Chad, Kristin and Katherine; great-grandchildren: Adam, Brandy, Samuel, Allison, Tyler and James, great-great-grandchild, Aria; sister: Patricia Solie, Waukegan, Ill.; as well as other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister and five brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2013, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. The Reverend Jason Kern will officiate.
Grace will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
There will not be any visitation held on Saturday; please meet at the Cathedral for Mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials be directed to Cancer Research, or a charity of choice.
