John “Jack” Robert Colquhoun Jr., died at Saint Marys Hospital on February 4, 2013. Jack was born on December 11, 1927, in Janesville, Wis. He graduated from high school in 1945 and served for 14 months in the U.S. Navy. He received his B.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin in 1951 and relocated to Milwaukee, where he worked for various companies before starting his own business in 1971. He sold it and retired in 1985.
Jack married Rita Marguerite Troiano in 1954. They lived in Milwaukee and then the suburb of Franklin. Jack served 10 years as a volunteer firefighter in Franklin. In 1991 they moved to Winona. Jack was a member of the board of the Julius C. Wilkie Steamboat Museum and Kiwanis Golden K. He and Rita volunteered for Meals on Wheels. They moved to Rochester in 2004.
In their retirement, Jack and Rita traveled all over the world. Jack enjoyed woodworking, stained-glass art and many other handicrafts.
Immediate survivors include his wife, Rita; daughter, Lea Dacy (Matthew) of Rochester; and two granddaughters.
Jack donated his body to the Mayo Medical School, Mayo Clinic.
A private family celebration will be scheduled at a later date. Donations in Jack’s name may be sent to Mayo Clinic for Alzheimer’s research, the Alzheimer’s Association or the Salvation Army.
