February 13

Winona County Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors will hold their regular monthly board meeting at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 13, at the Ag Service Center, 400 Wilson Street, Lewiston.

February 14

The Hiawatha Valley Civil War Round Table will meet on Thursday, February 14, at 7:00 p.m. on the second floor of the Winona County History Center, 160 Johnson St., Winona. Bill Wojahn, a veteran Civil War re-enactor from LaCrosse, will give an interesting presentation on the topic of “Flags in the Civil War.”   All are invited, and refreshments will be served.

February 15

Bundles of Love meeting, Senior Friendship Center, 251 Main Street, Winona, 12:00-3:30 p.m. Volunteers who can sew, cut out material, crochet or knit are needed. Material, yarn or gently used baby clothing can be dropped anytime. Donations are needed for supplies. Susan Moses 507-273-9365 or srmoses@msn.com

February 16

The Friends of the Winona Public Library Annual Meeting will be held on Saturday, February 16, at 9:00 a.m. at the library.  The public is invited to attend.  This is a great opportunity to learn more about the Friends of the Winona Public Library.  Agenda topics include:  spring book sale, membership renewals and officer elections.  Positions open for 2013-2014 include:  President, Treasurer, Secretary and Membership Coordinator.  Persons interested in nominating or running for an open position please email submissions to angielalle@gmail.com.   Please note:  although the library is technically closed on Saturday and Monday for President’s Day, the meeting will still be held at the library.  Staff will be letting meeting attendees in.  All new members welcome - doughnuts and refreshments will be served. 

The Winona Area Apron Group will meet at the Winona HyVee, Saturday, February 16, at 10:00 a.m. Bring new ideas and projects to share as we want to continue our work with our cancer and Alzheimer’s sales. Donations can be made of aprons, hankies and tea cups at this meeting or directly to Sandy. New members are welcome. February 20

Harvest House will hold their monthly meeting Wednesday, February 20, at 1:30 p.m. in St. Stanislaus hall. Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. for those wishing to attend. There will be a business meeting followed by our Valentine Party.  Bring a valentine to exchange and an unwrapped prize for bingo.  Also bring a nonperishable food item for a needy family.  Lunch will be served.  There will be sign up sheets for “Weekend Comedy” Fanny Hill March 14, and “Mahalia Jackson” Old Log Theater, April 25.  All are welcome on our trips.  For more information, call Dixie at 454-4829 or Mary Ann at 452-5587.

The next meeting for the Whitewater Joint Power Board will be held February 21, at 8:30 a.m. at the Whitewater State Park Visitor’s Center, 19041 Hwy 74, Altura. PLEASE NOTE:  the meeting day was switched at the last meeting. Minnesota City Community Readers will meet on Thursday, February 21, at 6:30 p.m. at the former MInnesota City School, 115 Iowa Street in Minnesota City.    The book being discussed in The State of Wonder by Anne Patchett.    All readers are invited whether or not they have read the book.
