Elba property dispute (02/13/2013)
From: Anthony Thelen
I understand that the Winona County Board is meeting to discuss whether residents of Lot 80 should foot the bill when it comes to the failed work of the boundary commission. I just wanted them to know that this property dispute did not die with my father‚s life. When my Dad built this stone house, he built it with a family, friends, and a network of people with bounds that are closer than just the add button on a facebook page. A community built this stone house. A fifteen year property dispute just does not die with a man; it is born into his children. I am 26 years old; take 15 out of 26 years and that’s a man’s life. I can remember the first stone my Dad laid to build the stone house that has been the center of the Elba Property Dispute. I can remember the countless batches of mortar my brothers mixed to build not only the foundation of a house, but, the foundation of our lives. Heart is what built that house. The Elba Property Dispute is not just about 36 feet of land; it’s about a man’s dream. A man does not just dream for the sake of himself, he dreams for his children. He dreams for life.
