Darleen Marie (Sorensen) Plinski, age 72, of Winona, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 10, 2013, at Lake Winona Manor.

Darleen was born on December 2, 1940, in Arcadia, Wis., to James and Eileen (Boberg) Sorensen. On May 21, 1960, she was united in marriage with Robert J. Plinski at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Winona; Robert preceded her in death on June 25, 2008.

She was a member of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka. For many years, Darleen worked as a self-employed hairstylist.

Her home was her castle and was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed coffee-clutching with neighbors and friends and will always be remembered for her good cooking. Darleen also enjoyed her hobbies of crafts, sewing, home decorating, and dancing. She was a warm person who always worried about others ahead of herself. Her laughter will be remembered by those who knew her and she loved making sure everyone had a good time.

Darleen is lovingly survived by her daughters, Rita (John) Banicki, Winona, Minn., Renee (Kent Kapitan) Plinski, Apple Valley, Minn., and Deborah Plinski, Rochester, Minn.; grandchildren, Samuel Banicki, Andrea Banicki, Tyler (Kelsey) Banicki, Sarah (Kyle) Glover, Shane Finnerud, Tommi (Michael) Hoeben, Rikki Gilow, Tiffany (Rory) Haney, James Prenot, and Tanya (Josh Wrycza) Prenot; 11 great-grandchildren; six brothers; six sisters; as well as other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and three brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 AM on Friday, February 15, 2013, at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka. The Reverend Monsignor Thomas J. Hargesheimer will officiate.

Darleen will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2013, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home. There will not be any visitation held on Friday – please meet at the Basilica for Mass.

Pallbearers will be Darleen’s grandsons.
