Mark T. Steffes, age 35, of Winona, Minn., passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at his home.
Mark was born on January 17, 1978, in Winona, Minn., to Thomas and Lynette (Krage) Steffes. He was a 1996 graduate of Winona Senior High School. After high school he attended Lake Superior College in Duluth and earned a degree in broadcasting. He later attended Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Institute to pursue his passion and gift for cooking. He held several positions with various restaurants as a chef and was most recently employed with Chartwells at Winona State University.
He enjoyed sports and could be found shooting pool and throwing darts on different leagues in town. Mark was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. He loved being an uncle. Mark was a kind and loyal friend to so many. He had the ability to put a smile on a person’s face and bring laughter in any situation.
Mark is survived by his parents, Tom and Lynette Steffes, Browerville, Minn.; sister and lifelong best-friend, Emily (John) Cassellius, Winona, Minn., and their children, his “buddy” Bryan and his “princess” Molly; brother, Phillip (Danielle) Steffes, Winona, Minn., and their children, George and Isabella; aunts and uncles, Darlene Walsh, Ed and Paula Krage, Wayne Krage, Keith and Anne Krage, Pete Steffes and Linda Steffes; cousins, Scott Walsh, Steven Walsh, Matthew (Samantha) Krage, Brianna (Mike) Steiner, Elizabeth Krage, Michael (Mandi) Steffes, Patrick Steffes and Mara Steffes; as well as other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward and Ruby Krage and Arthur and Ruth Steffes; uncles, Kenneth Walsh and Timothy Steffes; and cousin, Rosemary Spence Krage.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 18, 2013, at the Community Bible Church.
The Reverend Peter Huggenvik will officiate.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, February 17, 2013, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held at the Community Bible Church, on Monday, February 18, 2013, from 10 a.m. until time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to them to create a memorial for Mark.
