Breza, John J. (02/20/2013)
John J. Breza, age 78, of Winona, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at the Golden Living Center in La Crescent, Minn.

John was born on March 8, 1934, in Winona, to Vincent and Josephine (Scharmach) Breza. He was united in marriage with Marilyn Brom on October 2, 1965, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Creek, Wis.

He was a graduate of Cotter High School, and worked for many years at Warner-Swasey/Badger Equipment Company.

John was a member of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka, where he served as an usher. He was also a member of the Eagles, the Athletic Club, the American Legion, the VFW, the Dodge Sportmans Club, and the Polish Museum.

John is survived by his wife, Marilyn, Winona; children: Terry Breza (Cherie, Casey, and Anna), Winona; Lanell (Gerald) Wicka, Galesville, Wis.; Richard Breza, Winona; grandchildren: Keyshaun and Keelin Wicka; sisters: Annette Wieczorek, Winona; and Phyllis (Paul) Koch, St. Paul, Minn; sister-in-law: Betty (Dennis) Pellowski, Dodge, Wis.; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother-in-law, Ralph “Butch” Wieczorek.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 22, 2013, at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka. The Reverend Donald J. Lovas will officiate.

John will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka on Friday, February 22, 2013, from 11:30 a.m. until time of the Mass.

Memorials may be directed to the Polish Museum of Winona.
