The final decision-maker on an EIS (Environmental Impact Statement) in Winona County is the Winona County Board of Commissioners. The Winona County Board will decide whether or not to require an EIS(s) for the Dabelstein and Yoder mines.
The Winona County Board is elected to make the best decisions for their constituents, the area they live in and has the ability to implement stronger standards than the state. That’s “local control” at its best!
