From: Citizen members of the Non-Metallic Mining Advisory Committee Donna Brogan, Cristeen Custer, Ellen Ott, Paul Winey
Revisions to the Trempealeau County ordinance on Non-Metallic Mining are being considered by the Environment and Land Use committee on March 14 at 6:00 p.m. at Whitehall Memorial High School Commons.
Currently in Trempealeau County there are 23 permitted industrial sand mines; seven of those are operating now. There is one mine in the permitting phase. Eight industrial sand processing plants have been permitted; four of those are operating now.
This is the first (and possibly only) opportunity for public comment on the ordinance that governs non-metallic mining in Trempealeau County. All interested members of the public are encouraged to attend the public hearing. A copy of the ordinance with proposed revisions is available at
www.tremplocounty.com. If you are unable to attend you may submit written comments via email and U.S. mail to tremplcd@tremplocounty.com or Trempealeau County Department of Land Management 36245 Main Street, P.O. Box 67, Whitehall, Wisconsin 54773
