There is always something new to experience at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum. In March, the MMAM is opening two exhibitions. Valor in Marine Art features art depicting danger and drama on water. The other will feature the fine art photography of three time Emmy Award winner Cameron Glendenning. The exhibition is Photography by Cameron Glendenning: The Deadliest Catch, on display from March 15th through May 23rd, 2013.
Most people have witnessed the brilliantly dramatic cinematography of the hit Discovery Channel television programs Deadliest Catch and Bering Sea Gold. Much of that work has been performed by Cameron Glendenning (Culver City, CA), who is not only a seasoned cinematographer, but a skilled fine art photographer as well.
While on assignment for the Discovery Channel, Glendenning has access to some of the world’s most exotic, intriguing, and dangerous environments. It is through these worldly travels, a bit of bravery and a lot of curiosity, where Glendenning masterfully captures images for his commercial work and for his own personal artistic fulfillment. As a serious artist and skilled visual storyteller, Glendenning’s work can be at one moment thrilling, at one moment humorous, and at one moment intensely personal. Photography by Cameron Glendenning: The Deadliest Catch is the artists’ first major U.S. solo exhibition. As part of Youth Art Month (March), the MMAM is bringing Glendenning to Winona for many public and school programs.
