A rash of damaged and stolen mailboxes was reported on County Road 37 last week. At 1:37 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, Winona County Sheriff’s deputies and state troopers responded to a report from a semi-truck driver who accidentally ran over a mailbox and a stop sign that had been tossed onto Interstate 90 from the County Road 37 overpass. The sign and mailbox were not destroyed and deputies reinstalled the stop sign.
At 1:50 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, deputies received a report that several mailboxes had been damaged at Amish farms along County Road 37, and the caller reported that his mailbox was missing. That mailbox turned out to be the one which had been thrown onto Interstate 90. The caller told deputies there had been an unusual amount of traffic on the road, noise, and “people hollering” on Friday and Saturday nights.
