Thank you, Mr. Pryor (03/13/2013)
From: Jean Pryor, Robert Shibilski, Jane Bremer, Amanda Pflughoeft-Job of the Winona Dyslexia Group

Ronald D. Pryor, who passed away on Feb 20, had a desire to help students who struggled with reading. He founded the Winona Dyslexia Group in 2011. He knew that he had a mission and he knew he needed a small task force to help him. Ron was familiar with the frustration of children who struggled with reading as he did himself in his early years. Using his mantra “never, ever give up” he pursued an education and used his talent and skills as an engineer to build a successful business.

He remained steadfast in his desire to help children with dyslexia while he was still in an earthly position do so.

Ron’s compassion and generosity is evident by the contributions he has made to the Rochester Reading Center and to the 2012 Summer Reading Program at Bluffview Montessori School. Through the Mark R, Pryor Foundation he awarded scholarships in 2012 for individuals to train at the Rochester Reading Center who are tutoring over 25 students in the Winona area.

What Ron wanted was for schools in the area to offer their site as a place where students from any school in the area can come to receive one-on-one attention and to help them overcome their disability, elevate their self-esteem and discover who they are and what their potential is. This is seen evidenced by five schools and eight tutors participating in the Winona Dyslexia Group.

The legacy that Ron Pryor leaves is continued through his foundation and commitment to helping each child “find a special talent.”

We are proud to be a part of this legacy to help carry on his wish. If you are interested in finding out more about the Mark R. Pryor Foundation or have the desire to help Mr. Pryor carry on his legacy contact 507-458-6394, janelb@winonadyslexiagroup.com or visit www.winonadyslexiagroup.com Thank you again, Mr. Pryor.
