YOUTH ASA-MSF CLASS "B" -16 & UNDER GIRLS FAST PITCH STATE SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT
On Saturday, July 17th and Sunday, July 18th, the Winona Park Recreation Department will be hosting the Youth ASA-MSF Class "B" 16 & under Girls Fast Pitch State Softball Tournament at the Bambenek Field Complex, Winona Senior High Field and Dacota Field. Games begin at 8:00 a.m. both days, with specific game times posted at the tournament headquarters located at the Park Maintenance shed at the south end of Franklin Street. We hope to have our local "Winstars" competing in this tournament. Come enjoy some good games with teams competing from around the state. Come support girl's fast pitch. Winona's Youth Fast Pitch Association will be handling the concessions-come show your support-see you there.
ADULT SOFTBALL MANAGERS
If you are a manager of a softball team and have a change of address, phone number or if the name of the manager has changed, please make sure that you contact Kelli at the Park Recreation office, 457-8258, to give us the correct address and phone number. We may need to send information out to you and we would want to make sure that you are getting the information.
ADULT SOFTBALL RULE OF THE WEEK-LOCAL RULE
A foul tip is a batted ball that goes directly from the bat, not higher than the batter's head, to the catcher's hand(s) or glove and is legally caught by the catcher. NOTE: Any batted ball that goes directly from the bat, not higher than the batter's head to any part of the catcher's body or equipment other than the hand (s) or glove is a foul and dead ball. For each "foul tip" in slowpitch softball, the ball is dead and batter is out if it is the third strike. Special Note: In our Winona Park Recreation League and the Minnesota ASA Leagues, the batter is out if the 3rd strike is caught, but not the 2nd strike since we are using the courtesy foul."
ADULT SOFTBALL MAKEUP GAMES-CALL YOUR MANAGERS FOR SPECIFICS
There have been various rained out games this summer. The makeup letters have gone out to the managers/umpires. If your manager has not contacted you regarding your specific makeup times, please call your manager. In many instances where there are multiple makeups, we have included copies for each player for the managers/players convenience. We are sorry for the inconvenience-we can not control "Mother Nature". Special Note: As specified in the makeup letters and on your original game schedules due to the leagues running late into August these makeup's will not be made up if canceled again due to rain.
