Alleged shoplifter arrested (03/31/2013)
By Chris Rogers

Officers arrested Issac Coley, 20, of Winona at 6:47 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, following three instances of alleged shoplifting. According to the reports, Coley stole from the same store two days in a row, was caught once, and stole from another store that same day. The grand total of Coley’s alleged thefts is $1,365.

Coley reportedly stole a laptop valued at $498 on Tuesday from Walmart. Witnesses said Coley put the computer in his backpack and when he was about to exit the store, took the computer out of his bag and stuffed it into his pants. Coley got away but was ticketed by police at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, when he returned to Walmart and attempted to leave with $132 in clothing without paying, according to the report. Walmart security recognized him as the individual who stole the laptop the day before.

Then, later that same day, Coley was arrested for allegedly shoplifting an iPhone 5 valued at $735 from the Sprint store. Police officials said that prosecutors may combine Coley’s alleged offenses and charge Coley with felony theft.
