Clyde N. Papenfuss, age 93, of Pickwick, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, March 28, 2013. Clyde was born on July 20, 1919, to Herman and Nora (Armitage) Papenfuss. He initially worked for the Minnesota State Highway Department as part of a road crew during the summer. He found full-time employment with Miller’s Waste Mill as a factory worker. Later, he worked for Plastic Trading. He farmed throughout, first as a dairy farmer until 1985, and then as a beef farmer. Clyde had a tremendous work ethic. He liked his tractor and drove it up until the age of 92.
In 1944, Clyde married Irene Parpart in Pickwick, Minnesota. Together, they raised their family on the farm. Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Nora; his beloved wife, Irene; and two brothers, Arvid and Weston. He will be greatly missed by his children, Dennis Papenfuss and Sharon (Larry) Brand; grandchildren, Angela Modjeski and Troy (Susan) Brand; great-grandchildren, Bethany, Cassidy, Juliana, Nickolay and Ethan; brothers, Ellsworth (Elaine) Papenfuss and Eugene (Idella) Papenfuss; sisters, Elva Parpart and Betty (Rolf) Reissman; many more relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pickwick, with Reverend James D. Nelson officiating.
