April 10

Winona County Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors will hold their regular monthly board meeting at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10, at the Ag Service Center, 400 Wilson Street, Lewiston.

April 11

The Hiawatha Valley Civil War Round Table in cooperation with the Winona County Historical Society will meet on Thursday, April 11, at 7:00 p.m. in the Wanek Room of the Winona County History Center, 160 Johnson St., Winona. The prominent author and speaker, Michael Eckers, will present us with a lively account of “Minnesota Soldiers 150 Years Ago.” All are invited and refreshments will be served.

April 13

The Winona Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) will hold its April meeting on Saturday, April 13, at 10:00 a.m., Purple Rooms, Kryzsko Commons, Winona State. The program will be given by Frederick Beseler on the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASPS), the first American women to fly military aircraft during WWII. One of these women was Ethel Meyer Finley, a Winona State graduate. Mr. Beseler has been a private pilot since 1978, and serves on the board of directors for the Winona Aviation Hall of Fame. The public is invited to attend this presentation.

April 15

Winona Shrine Auxiliary will meet at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, April 15, at Westfield Golf Club. The menu will be chicken chow mien, white rice, egg roll, vegetable, salad, roll, and dessert. For reservations call Jane Haugan at 454-4253.

April 17

Harvest House, a nonprofit, non-denominational organization for 50 and getting better, will hold their monthly meeting Wednesday, April 17, at 1:30 p.m. in St. Stanislaus hall.  Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 with Father Paul Breza as celebrant, for those wishing to attend. There will be a business meeting.  Our guest speaker is Anne Pellowski to talk on her mission trip to Bosco, Nicaragua.  Bring a nonperishable food item for a needy family.  Lunch will be served. There will be sign up sheets for Treasure Island Boat Cruise May 30 and Clauson Family Barn June 20.  All are welcome on our trips.  For more information, call Dixie at 454-4829 or Mary Ann at 452-5587.

April 22

Winona Area Retired Educators Association (WAREA) membership meeting on Monday, April 22, at 8:30 a.m. at Perkins in Winona. Stacy Sandowski of Live Well, Winona is the guest speaker. Members, spouses and the public are invited. If not called, contact Jane Habeck at 454-1430 or jhabeck@wildblue.net. SEREAM spring conference is Wednesday, April 24, at Rochester Event Center. REAM state conference at Treasure Island in Red Wing, September 16-18.

April 30

The Lois Club will meet Tuesday, April 30, at 5:30 p.m. at the Country Kitchen.
