Local talent at MWMF (04/14/2013)
Mid West Music Fest (MWMF) is set for April 18 - 20, and will bring music from across the state and region to Winona venues. Local talent will also grace the stages during the festival, and those who would like to connect with local artists should be sure to check out the following bands, in no particular order:

Porcupine - http://porcupineband.bandcamp.com/

Fri. 4/19 – 10:30 p.m. Broken World Records (21+)

Alt-Rock, Post-Punk, Shoegaze, Indie-Rock – La Crosse, Wis. Oddball, yet strangely pleasant upbeat alternative rock featuring Queens of the Stone Age-influenced riffing and warbled guitar tones usually reserved for acts considered under the shoegaze canopy.

Click Track - http://clicktrack.bandcamp.com/

Fri. 4/19 – 6:15 p.m. Ed’s (no name) Block Party

Indie Rock – La Crosse, Wis. and Winona; energetic power-pop act featuring massive loops, driving synth and guitar, and “risk taking” vocal melodies, at times sung into a megaphone. Don’t call them a duo anymore!—Jason Foht now plays bass in the group.

Freak Folk, Synthpop, Dark Wave – Minneapolis (Winona native); haunting experimental freak folk that blends electronic dark wave synthpop into a sound that finds a new space between influences like Zola Jesus, Animal Collective, Joanna Newsom, CocoRosie, and Bjork.
