Prescribed burns scheduled for SE Minnesota during May (04/21/2013)
Motorists in southeastern Minnesota may see smoke from prescribed burns throughout May along various highways, including:

Highway 14 west of Claremont

Highway 52 near Harmony and Canton

Highway 56 between Rose Creek and LeRoy

Interstate 90 near Eyota

Highway 218 between Austin and Owatonna

Wetland restoration near Hokah

Wetland restoration near Ellendale

Traffic should not be affected and all highways will remain open during the burns.

Trained prescribed burn crews monitor these burns, which promote native prairie vegetation growth and control weeds and brush.

The burns are scheduled during optimal weather conditions to ensure safety and effectiveness. Visit www.mndot.gov/roadsides/vegetation/fire.html.

for more information.
