The 13th annual Bluff Country Studio Art Tour of Southeast Minnesota will take place April 26-28. The hours are 10 AM to 5PM daily. The wide variety of arts in the tour offers something for everyone. The tour ranges from Winona to Northern Iowa plus Fountain City, WI. Julia Crozier has moved her studio back across the river from Winona and shows her pastels and paintings. In Winona, this year’s tour includes the Minnesota Marine Art Museum with four galleries filled with historic marine paintings, photographs, and more. Anne Scott Plummer, figure sculpture, will be at the WKM Building, 902 East 2nd St and will be joined by Rick Scheffert with pottery and Maryann & Rick Frietsche with their jewelry. Portrait artist Mary Singer will have her paintings at her studio on the corner of North Baker and West Thirds St. with a wide range of sizes, mediums and subject matter including many area scenic portraits. Monta May with contemporary and ancient design sculpture will be showing at her home on 854 W. 5th St. Two newcomers are Carol & Roger Stewart showing their mixed media using seashells at Village House Inn. Our area is truly blessed with such a wide range of professional artists. Returning artists in Winona include Bernadette Mahfood, glass tiles & jewelry and Walken Ratajczyk, functional glass at 310 E. 10th St. Dan Grimslid, life drawings, will open his studio at 159 E. 2nd St. in downtown Winona. Jamie Schell will be showing his fine furniture and sculpture at his studio at 1126 E. 6th St. Tom Blahnik rejoins the art tour with his turned wooden bowls at his studio in St. Charles.
Mariella ter Beest-Schladweiler, tapestry purses; Roger Meyer, turned wood; Karen Misseldine, functional pottery; Anna Loney, metal works; Cheryl Lamon, quilted products; and Paul Corbin, pottery; will be at Lanesboro Sons of Norway Hall. Joel Sampson will show his fountains at his home between Lanesboro and Whalen. Again this year Joan Finnegan will show her landscapes and portraits of nature at her studio, 34617 County 12, Lanesboro. Sue Pariseau, will be showing her pottery at her home near Lanesboro on County 12. Mary Denzer, Seven Bridges Pottery in Houston will show her functional pottery. Stop at Vicky Kurk’s Clover Hill Studio in Spring Grove and see her beautiful stained glass windows. Be sure to visit Bluff Country Artists Gallery in Spring Grove, Lanesboro Arts Center in Lanesboro, and Magnolias in Winona to see artwork by more regional artists.
Northern Iowa includes Hallie and Nate Evans, wood- fired stoneware pottery and Nate’s fused glass. Stop by Jill and Michael Stephenson in their non-electric house with wood furniture and reed baskets. National award winning artists Martha Monson and George Lowe will be displaying their unique rattan baskets and stoneware pottery. Darla Ellickson rejoins the art tour with her custom-made silver jewelry. Jean Murray rejoins the art tour again this year with her beautiful quilted wall hangings.
