Frac sand profits vs. justice for all (05/05/2013)
From: Lorraine Redig

Letís see. How does that go again? ďI pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.Ē

Can someone explain to me where it says that this is a republic dedicated to profits for business no matter what the business does to the viability of our Mother-ship-earth or to the people living on it?

If this is truly a justice-for-all nation, WHY donít the human-rights concerns of a lot of citizens take precedence over the profits for a few? Or, letís reword the pledge so it tells the truth.

The frac sand industry and our local government just demonstrated that they put profits ahead of human rights.

Yes, we all need profits. Find a way to profit that doesnít harm your neighbors and the earth. The common good is good for everyone.

Thank you to Catholic Worker, Land Stewardship Project, and all who stood up for human rights in Winona a few days ago.
