Ramona Metz, Leslie Johns, Lee Loerch,
Hiawatha Valley Education District of Winona will host the Young Writers’ Conference on May 16 and 17, at Winona State University. Over 1,000 students from grades 3-8 are registered from the following districts: Caledonia, Chatfield, Cochrane-Fountain City, Dakota, Dover-Eyota, Holmen, Houston, LaCrescent, Lake City, Lanesboro, Lewiston-Altura, Onalaska, Plainview-Elgin-Millville, Ridgeway, Rushford-Peterson, St. Charles, Wabasha-Kellogg, and Winona public, private, and charter schools.
Each student will have the opportunity to meet and work with three of the following presenters: Al Batt (Naturalist), Lisa Bullard (Nonfiction/Mystery), Bev Cotter (Historical Writer), Michael Cotter (Storytelling), Patti Darbo (Songwriting), Terri DeGezelle (Fiction), Erin Downing (Young Adult Novels), William Durbin (Historical YA Fiction), Amanda Hardy (Musician and Songwriter), Carrie Hartman (Illustrator), Ryan Jacobson (Fiction), Nelda Liebig (Non-Fiction), Tom Overlie (Newscasting/Media), Rick Ponzio (Fiction), Patrick Ryan (Extreme Sports), Laura Purdie Salas (Poetry), Kathryn Sullivan (Science Fiction-Fantasy), Brittany Styles (Radio Personality), Jacqueline West (Fantasy/Adventure/Magic), and Dean Young (Science Fiction).
