The Winona Steamboat Days Festival Committee unveiled the 2013 Button Design and announced its designer at Bluffview Montessori School Tuesday afternoon. This year’s design winner is Sequoia Fassbender, 6th grade student at Bluffview Montessori School . Sequoia is the daughter of Julie and Tom Fassbender, Winona.
Sequoia’s art teacher, Sandy Borkowski, includes the Button Design Contest as part of a winter assignment each year.
As the Design Winner, Sequoia will received a plaque with her winning design, a ride in the Kiddie Parade and Steamboat Days Grande Parade, personalize button to wear during steamboat days, t-shirt with her design on it, drinking glasses, and carnival armbands for her family.
Steamboat Days also awards prizes to the Second Place Abby Kline, 7th grade student and Third Place to Amanda Guillen, 6th grade student both from Winona Middle School.
Steamboat Days buttons will be available for sale at most Winona convince stores, retailers, restaurants, Midtown Foods and HyVee beginning Saturday, May 24th. With your advance button purchase of $5.00 you can register to win many great prizes donated by a variety of area merchants including a Wenonah Canoe!
