Mary “Muzzy” Lisa Cross, 54, of Winona and formerly from New Prague, Minn., died Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse.
Muzzy was born May 9, 1959, in New Prague to Glenn and Marie (Herda) Kajer. She graduated from New Prague High School in 1977 and moved to Winona to further her education at St. Mary’s University, where she earned a degree in Criminal Justice in 1981.
She was introduced to Leonard “Len” Cross in 1982 when she was interviewing for a job at The Nasty Habit. They were later married on July 9, 1988, in Winona. In 1995, Muzzy purchased First Place Trophy and enjoyed visiting with her customers. Muzzy and Len loved spending time outdoors and camping near the water.
Muzzy is survived by her husband of over 24 years, Len of Winona; mother, Marie Kajer of New Prague; sisters, Cindy (Harold) Carlson of Sturgeon Lake, Minn., and Kim (David) Bergstedt of La Crescent; and nieces and nephew, Brittany, Erik, and Ellie Bergstedt, all of La Crescent. She was preceded in death by her father, Glenn Kajer.
Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Goodview with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. Reverend Paul Breza will officiate. Following the service, a reception will be held at the Eagles Club in Winona. Muzzy will be laid to rest at a later date in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
