I’m responding to an article written by Thomas Parlin entitled, “Abortion is not the answer to violence against women.” I could not agree more with the title of your outburst, Mr. Parlin. However, the content is quite another story. Let me start by saying you don’t “have” a daughter, what you “have” is the awesome opportunity to raise one.
A woman, a creator of life. You should be grateful that a woman once made the choice to create and foster a life that you now call your own. Rape is a terrible fact of life humans have lived with as long as men have forgotten that a woman has a right to choose what to do with her body. Since you have not the equipment to create a life, you have no right to tell a woman when and where she must use this awesome God-given potential. What you have a right to is the content of the two orifices that most closely resemble that of the one most commonly taken by rapists from women. It would seem that what comes out of either of these on your body are of equal value. I do not advocate abortion but will fight to the death for a woman’s right to choose. I do not agree with a single word you have said but will fight to the death for your right to say it. Thank God for the rights we have left!
