Pickwick attacker still at large (05/29/2013)
By Chris Rogers

Winona County Sheriff’s Department officials reported that they are still looking for the man who entered a sleeping Pickwick couple’s house before attacking them with a knife last week.

“We are still asking for anybody with information to call us,” said Chief Deputy Ron Ganrude. He reported that the department did receive one tip but that nothing substantial has come of it so far.

A 56-year-old Pickwick woman awoke to a strange man touching her on the head in the early hours of Friday, May 24. She and her husband fought the man, who cut them with an 8-inch chef’s knife. The woman received minor injuries and the man was nearly killed with a cut to his neck, authorities reported. The husband chased the attacker out of the house after the knife was broken in the fight.

No description of the attacker is available other than that he was small in stature.
