‘Heart Strings’ harp circle to play at Old Main (05/29/2013)
“Heart Strings,” the regional harp circle that is becoming well known, will offer “A Spring Holiday with Heart Strings” at Old Main in Galesville, Sunday, June 2 at 3:00 p.m. The “Heart Strings” harp circle started several years ago when four harpists from Winona, who had been students of harpist Diane Schneider, decided to create the circle after their teacher moved away. They felt it would be a way of encouraging practice and ensemble playing so that whatever skills they had learned would not be lost. As they played together, they became good friends and soon learned of other folk harpists in the area.  From those contacts the circle grew and grew, including musicians from LaCrosse, Trempealeau, Caledonia and LaCrescent areas. They continue to add new members and play for many events in the area, as well as just getting together for the pure enjoyment of harp music. Individually, the harpists have played for hospice patients, hospitals, nursing homes, weddings and funerals. Through these many connections and in rehearsing together, wonderful friendships have developed. The beauty of harp music has brought much joy to the musicians, as well as to their many listeners.

The members of Heart Strings have found that playing the harp is both a challenge and a special way to touch souls!

Old Main is located at the south end of 12th St. in Galesville. Follow the green and yellow signs. Tickets at the door are $8.00 for adults and $4.00 for students and children.
