I would like to respond to the recent letter by Nicholas Pederson. He was highly critical of a most eloquent letter written by Tom Parlin, who stated that “unrestricted abortion will not solve the assault on women.” Nicholas stated that he is emphatically for the right of a woman to choose what to do with her body. I wonder if Nicholas has thought this whole process through, and if it would make a difference to him if the pre-born baby a woman was planning to abort were his child? I wonder if he would think differently if he knew that the tiny life began at conception. Because of ultrasounds, the lives of many babies have been saved and countless women have been spared the turmoil of abortion and its lasting effects. I wonder if he believes that we, the human population, are all children of an awesome creator, a God who values each of us in high esteem, from the tiny defenseless pre-born to the handicapped, the marginalized, and the elderly.
In cases of rape, where some believe that abortion is justified, I would say that two wrongs do not make a right. The pre-born baby has the right to live and the mother has the right to place the baby for adoption – a priceless gift to couples seeking a child to love and nurture.
We just celebrated Memorial Day, where we honored those who have fought and died for our country. But we need to remember the war on the pre-born, which reaches over 55 million just in our country alone. Only when hearts and minds have been changed to accept the reality of the humanity of the pre-born will this atrocity come to an end.
