Do you know what one of the greatest pleasures of this life is? It is available to the poor and rich alike! It is experiencing the steady changing of the seasons! Speaking of our Lord, Psalm 147 says “He hurls down his hail like pebbles. Who can withstand His icy blast? He sends His Word and melts them: He stirs up His breezes, and the waters flow.” There is a beautiful rhythm the Lord has built into the seasons. Each has its matchless beauty. The blanket of white fallen snow; the tulips and daffodils of spring, the green but golden days of summer, and the fascinating colors of the autumn trees.
You have spent winter in the northern half of this world, in Minnesota, and you must be impressed with the great miracle of rebirth. Every year, everything seems to die. Everything looked dead three months ago. Yet just like clockwork, the Lord sends more sun and warms the frozen world so it bursts forth with life.
While we all love spring, and though it has been a bit unruly this year, we were glad to be able to get outside and look forward to more time outdoors again this summer. As we leave the spring and head into summer we do not forget the Easter story of our resurrected Lord, which emphasized the amazing power to bring life out of what seemed dead.
So through all of the ups and downs of life there is always HOPE, because spring always follows winter. As you have seen once again enacted to your amazement the power to bring life out of what seemed dead. So, dear friend, you have the last word. That word is life again! Thank the Lord and sing His praises!
