Bring back the woodshed (06/09/2013)
From: David Foss

Galesville, Wis.

Those who are of the woodshed era (when discipline was carried out behind the woodshed and elsewhere) would probably be in total agreement that discipline is a positive, correct, and necessary deterrent to improper, disrespectful, adolescent behavior. Would anyone disagree that discipline is lacking today? Once again America is allowing the few to take away yet another thing that is absolutely necessary for America and its children - discipline.

Discipline should be very high on a parent’s list of prioritized, child-rearing necessities. The devil and his cronies (the few) are insisting that discipline is a bad thing. What kind of a world are we going to have with the absence of discipline? Terminate the thought!

Be assured of the heavy bombardment of harsh retort from the few who are against the common (?) good of discipline. The few will snarl, whine and howl that discipline is harmful to children. Such belief is one hundred percent daftness! Can we imagine what kind of lives undisciplined children would be living after they have left home? Their lives and the lives of their spouses and children would very likely be extremely unstable, chaotic, unpleasant and undoubtedly more than a bit miserable.

How could the few ever think that sending undisciplined children into the world would be an improvement to these children’s livelihoods? This is unfathomable lunacy in the highest degree - beyond Pluto.

We have all witnessed a parent’s embarrassment and frustration as a result of the dreadful tantrum. Why did this happen? Because the child has been given his or her way. Children never forget having gotten their own way, even if it was only one time. They will remember! Parents can’t use the excuse, “Well my child is just so high-strung!” Children aren’t born high-strung. This is an acquired (gotten away-with-it) syndrome. Tantrums can be avoided if we will consistently correct bad behavior one hundred percent of the time it occurs.

Who are the few who want to put an end to the disciplining of children? Are the few genuinely concerned about our children? Do the few want to build up America or is their agenda to tear down America? Has the absence of discipline come upon us as a result of something good or something evil?

Detrimentally, more and more parents are neglecting to discipline their children because of fear - fear of losing their children. Why? Because society has accepted the few’s lie that discipline is something very evil. Far too many parents are rearing holy terrors because their God-given right to discipline, as God has directed has been taken away from them. If parents are going to be forced to accept the few’s ill-gotten gain, then parents will continue to have a very difficult and frightening time rearing undisciplined children.

Could we prove that discipline is acceptable to all but the few? Yes - easily. We could survey or poll any number of people who have been correctly disciplined and all of them, more than likely, would be in agreement that discipline was very necessary in developing and establishing a proper course and attitude for their lives. If asked, many positive comments would undoubtedly be voiced about their having been disciplined correctly.

Should America allow the few to inflict more corruption upon our nation? America is already up to its neck in the cesspool of the few’s agenda. America needs to retrieve and mend the moral fiber that has been taken and ripped apart by the few. America needs to follow God and His righteous ways, not the unrighteous ways of the few. God’s ways will never fail, so let’s bring back the woodshed.

Ponder Proverbs 13:24; 19:18; 22:6; 22:15; 23:13-14; 29:15,17 Deuteronomy 6:5-7
