Energy efficiency workshop June 19 (06/09/2013)
Energy Efficiency Connections workshop, sponsored by Southeast Minnesota CERTS, is entirely free, and will be held at the Winona County Government Center, 117 Main St in the 2nd floor County Board Room, on Wednesday June 19th from 10 AM to Noon. Service providers will be on hand to explain energy saving services available to you. Most programs are funded through Xcel energy and cost the recipient nothing, but to qualify you must be a customer of Xcel.

As a small business or non-profit you may not have the time, resources or expertise to focus on energy efficiency, or try to figure out the confusing array of available rebates, grants and loans. The service providers at our workshop can help.

You’ll be able to meet someone from EnerChange.org, which recently assisted Ridgeway Community School in saving money. According to Jodi Dansingburg, School Coordinator at Ridgway, “we were very pleased with the results of their visit and have already put some of their recommendations into practice. “ Enerchange.org focuses on non-profit organizations, including schools and churches, and offers no-cost services. They will perform an on-site energy efficiency assessment, provide quantified energy saving suggestions, and help you find rebates, grants or other financing for the improvements.

Also in attendance will be a representative from the Minnesota Center for Energy and Efficiency. Programs available through MNCEE include zero interest financing and grants for non-profits. For businesses there is an energy efficiency loan program. MNCEE is the Home of One-Stop efficiency Shop; a full service lighting rebate program available to small-businesses in Xcel Energy’s Minnesota Service territory

Of special interest for Winona small businesses will be a representative of the Energy Smart program of the Minnesota Waste Wise organization affiliated with the MN Chamber of Commerce. They provide some no-cost services to help businesses connect to existing energy efficiency programs sponsored by the state’s energy utilities. They also have a wide array of efficiency and sustainability services which may require a paid membership.

For more information and a list of the service providers who will be at Energy Efficiency Connections Workshop go to www.co.winona.mn.us and click on the Recycling & Sustainability tab at the bottom of the page.
