In quick succession, two semitrailer trucks rear-ended vehicles on Interstate 90 west of Highway 43 North sending the other vehicles careening off the road and possibly causing injuries. On Tuesday, June 11, at around 6:45 a.m. Winona County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to the first accident, where a passenger car eastbound on Interstate 90 was rear-ended by a semi hauling milk, which knocked the car into the ditch. As deputies were assisting the victims of the first crash, another passenger car headed east on Interstate 90 slowed while passing the crash scene. That car was rear-ended by a semi, which sent it into the median. Deputies were outside their vehicles in the ditch on the other side of the road at the time. A deputy reported hearing the second crash and looking up to see whether a car was headed his way.
The victim of the first crash, a man, was taken by ambulance to the hospital complaining of neck pain. The victim of the second crash refused medical attention, according to the report. State Patrol officers are investigating both crashes.
