Sen. Miller will not challenge Walz in 2014 (06/16/2013)
Republican Jeremy R. Miller, representing District 28, a resident of Winona, was elected to the Minnesota State Senate in 2010 and is now in his second term. Prior to the upcoming 2014 elections, Senator Miller submitted a statement to the media addressing the possibility of running for Minnesotaís First Congressional District seat, currently held by Rep. Tim Walz.

"Over the past few weeks, I have been approached by several people who have asked me to run for Minnesotaís First Congressional District seat in 2014. Iím honored to be thought of as a potential candidate for this position, and when someone asks you to run for United States Congress, I believe it deserves a strong look. After thoughtful consideration, Janel and I have decided that with our young and growing family (16 month old son and expecting twin boys in August), my responsibilities in our familyís fourth generation recycling business, and my role as District 28 State Senator, the timing just isn't right to run for Congress.

"Iím focused on being the best husband and father I can be along with running a successful small business and continuing to serve the people of Fillmore, Houston and Winona counties as a member of the Minnesota Senate."
