Whitewater State Park programs (06/16/2013)
Family Fishing Along the Root River State Trail

Saturdays June 22, July 20, and August 31 from 10am-Noon join us in Lanesboro to learn about fishing. Join a staff member from Whitewater State Park along with staff from the national Trout Center at the Mill Pond along the Root River State Trailhead for a few hours of fishing. All equipment is provided and children will have the opportunity to catch pan fish from the fishing pier or go trout fishing on the shore of the Root River. To participate, adults and those over age 16 must have a fishing license with a trout stamp. No sign up required. For more information, contact sara.grover@state.mn.us or call 507-932-3007 ext 226.

Pioneer Music Ė Bluegrass Jam

Join us every third Sunday, May-September, 3-5pm at Whitewater State Park to re-create the music of the Whitewater Valley pioneers! Bluegrass enthusiasts are invited to grab their instruments and lawn chairs for a jam session and campfire behind the Visitor Center. Donít play an instrument? Donít worry, come join us to hear some great music and sing along. Event will be indoors in case of rain. For more information, contact sara.grover@state.mn.us or call 507-932-3007 ext 226.

Parsnip Pull

The First Annual Whitewater State Park Parsnip Pull will take place on Saturday, June 22. Join us at Whitewater State Park to help pull Wild Parsnip which is an invasive plant that causes phyto-photo dermatitis. This will be a fun social event, with a pot-luck dinner following, please bring a dish to pass. Participants are asked to bring a shovel, long sleeve shirt, and wear long pants tucked into long socks. A hat, sunglasses, and water bottle are also recommended.
